Adopt A Highway Maintenance Corporation (AHMC) & Adopt A Beach Outdoor Media (AAB) are proud to be participating in the Beach Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 11, 2015, sponsored by the Huntington/Seal Beach Surfrider Foundation. This monthly event also happens to coincide with Surfrider’s Annual Ohana Family Day, which will be held this year at Seal Beach Pier.  The time for Beach Clean Up will be 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, with Ohana Family Day events continuing until 1:00 PM.

“Participating in this event has inspired a new tradition within our company to bring together our employees and their families to collectively volunteer for environmentally conscious events every year.   With Earth Day approaching, (April 22) it’s an exceptional time to participate in both Ohana Days and the Seal Beach clean-up…”

More event information from Surfrider Huntington/Seal Beach:

Ohana Day is a great opportunity for everyone to come out for an enjoyable and educational day at the beach. Surfrider will have plenty of volunteers on hand to talk about simple things we can all do in our own homes to improve water quality at our beaches. In addition, there will be free surf lessons courtesy of M&M Surf School, free marine biology lessons form Science 2 U, interactive information on ocean and surf-related group tables, a bodyboarding clinic courtesy of Alternative Surf, Lifeguard Try-Outs, Surfrider programs and a beach cleanup. All this in addition to music and a raffle featuring merchandise from a variety of supporting local businesses. Friends and families are encouraged to bring their boards, beach chairs and a picnic lunch to enjoy a fun day at the beach!

Surfrider is looking forward to sharing the environmental programs the chapter has developed. These programs include beach cleanups, water quality testing, creating Ocean-Friendly Gardens, Education and Rise Above Plastic to reduce litter on our streets and beaches. All of these programs will be featured at Ohana Day – a great opportunity to get involved. The event will be held on the sand at the Seal Beach Pier/ 8th street beach parking lot.
